How to use it
- Drop in the logo or drawing you were going to vectorize.
- Choose Logo or icon for flat artwork, or Black and white for line art.
- Compare with the original and adjust colors, smoothing and specks.
- Download the SVG.
Who should stay with Vector Magic
If you vectorize images every week, need EPS or batch processing, or want an offline desktop app, a paid tool pays for itself. This site is a better fit for the occasional job, where a subscription costs more than the file is worth.
Getting a good trace here
Start with the biggest, cleanest copy of the image. Use few colors for logos, and let the specks slider remove dust. If a curve looks lumpy, raise Smoothing. Compare against the original with the slider before you download, because that is where you notice a lost corner or a filled-in letter.
What the settings do
- Style
- Sets sensible starting values for the kind of image you have. You can still change every setting afterward.
- Colors
- How many flat colors the tracer keeps. Each color becomes one path in the SVG, so lower numbers give simpler files.
- Smoothing
- Higher values merge small bumps into smooth curves and shrink the file. Lower values follow the pixels more closely.
- Remove small specks
- Drops tiny shapes, such as dust or compression noise, below the size you choose.
- Make white background transparent
- Removes the white area connected to the edge of the image, so the SVG has no white box behind it.
What people use it for
- One-off logo vectors for print, signs or merchandise
- Tracing signatures and handwriting as black shapes
- Cut files for vinyl cutters and laser engravers
- Cleaning up a low-resolution graphic before editing

Questions
Is there a free alternative to Vector Magic?
This tool is free to start, runs in your browser and needs no signup. It uses a different tracing method, so results differ from Vector Magic's. For clean logos and line art they are often comparable.
Does it work as well as Vector Magic on complicated images?
Probably not on detailed, shaded artwork. Vector Magic has had years of tuning for that. For flat logos, icons and drawings, test your image here and compare it with the original.
Can I get EPS or AI files?
Download the SVG and open it in Inkscape or Illustrator, then save as EPS or AI from there. This tool exports SVG and DXF.
Does my image leave my computer?
No. Tracing happens inside your browser tab and nothing is uploaded.
